Halloween Fun!

Our fabulous, fun McAuliffe School Family pulled off an AWESOME Halloween night of fun here at school. We had trick or treaters trailing through the halls of school from 5:00-7:00 this evening. Many families came out for the fun and many staff members were dressed up to give out candy to our favorite little people. A huge thank you to our AMAZING PTO, our fabulous staff and our wonderful families. Have a safe Halloween Weekend. Stay tuned for more pictures. Here are just a few...
We love our school. We love our PTO. We love fall fun.

Happy Fall!

Dear McAuliffe Families and Friends,

Happy October! Even though fall has brought darker days and nights, our McAuliffe students continue to shine bright!

It was great to see so many parents at Open House.   Hopefully you gained a better understanding of the curriculum at your child’s grade level.   It is amazing what our elementary students are being asked to do, and yet they DO IT! If you were not able to attend, the next opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher/teaching team, will be on Thursday, November 5th when parent/teacher conferences are scheduled.  Teachers will be available from 5:30 – 7:30 to meet one-on-one with parents to discuss their child’s first term academic and social progress.

We continue to work very hard to grow strong and solid students here at the McAuliffe.  Over the next two months all students in grades K-4 will be working on opinion writing, reading fiction and focusing on character traits, and getting more familiar with our new math program entitled Eureka.   Please encourage your child to voice his/her opinion on various home issues, talk about the character traits of family members and inquire about your child’s math “sprint” progress.

Our first PTO fundraiser was a HUGE success.  Together our school community purchased over $11,000 of Mixed Bags items.  Of those sales, $5,000 will be given back to the PTO to be used to support McAuliffe student related activities!  Well Done Team McAuliffe!

As always, please visit www.mcauliffeschool.blogspot.com for current school updates and photos.

All the best,
Nan

Solids Liquids & Gases

2nd Grade students have been learning all about 3 States of Matter.
We spent some time outside taking in nature and finding SOLIDS, LIQUIDS and GASES.
We wrote them down and took them back inside to discuss their properties. We love science!
Check out our photos.
What a beautiful day!

Rocks are solids!

We can tell you lots of properties!

Bricks are solids!

Hmmmm I know this leaf has many properties.

I hope I find some liquids and gases.

Working hard!

Sap is a liquid! Some of it is solid...

Fall Fun

We are back in full swing at the McAuliffe School and we are settling in nicely this fall. Lots of fun to share...

Mrs. Sweeney sent along picture of her first parent reader, Mrs. Baker. Mrs Baker read a story to Mrs. Sweeney's class from the Mrs. Bindergarten series and she treated them to Minion Cupcakes.
What a fun time for them!
Check out the pics she sent along!!

We have so much fun here at school.
Friday was our Green party and we had some REALLY COOL jump ropers but you'll have to stay tuned for pictures of that fun afternoon because I needed teachers to send some to me.

Check back in frequently.
Fall news is coming up next week!

Lots of love,
Your McAuliffe Family
